Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE

Today, we mourn the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall, one of the most inspiring conservationists and impactful scientists of our time. Throughout her illustrious and storied career, Jane was guided by compassion, curiosity, interconnectedness, and above all, hope.

Dr. Goodall taught us that we must have hope. In her words, “Hope is what enables us to keep going in the face of adversity. It is what we desire to happen, but we must be prepared to work hard to make it so.”

Further, “if you lose hope, you become apathetic. You give up and you do nothing. The future depends on all of us getting together now and doing something to try and heal the harm we have inflicted on this planet.”

It is not hyperbole to say that humanity stands at the precipice, but we have a choice. We can press forward with hope and work to ensure a better, healthier future for all life on this planet, or we can give up.

Today, and every day, we honor the life’s work of Dr. Jane Goodall and choose hope.

May her legacy will live on through the @janegoodallinst and @rootsandshoots, guiding the next generation of leaders and change makers.
